Layers of Time<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This group exhibition brings together three Japanese artists\u2014working in installation, painting, and video\u2014who each explore what lies beneath the surface: the unspoken, the traces of memory.
I have long created salt installations in various locations as a way of preserving memories of loved ones I have lost.
In this exhibition, Nobuko Watahiki, Shingo Yoshida, and I (Motoi Yamamoto) take inspiration from the words of poet Yoshir\u014d Ishihara\u2014\u201cA river flowing in the sea\u201d\u2014and approach the theme of contradiction and silence from our respective perspectives.
Each work attempts to visualize the invisible currents and presences that lie between what is spoken and what remains unsaid.
For this show, I will present several new works on paper and canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
