金沢21世紀美術館企画の展覧会「変容する家」に参加し、新作インスタレーションを制作。「変容する家」は金沢市内に点在するスペースで中国、韓国そして日本のアーティストが制作する展覧会です。

「紫の季節」
私は妹が脳腫瘍で亡くなったことを契機に、清めや浄化の意味を持つ塩を素材に大切な人との思い出を忘れないための制作を続けてきました。しかし一昨年、妻が４歳の娘を残し乳がんで他界したことで、改めて家族の思い出と向き合う日々を送っています。
会場のがん患者やご家族が集うサロン「元ちゃんハウス」は、かつて私と妻が長年暮らしたエリアに建っています。妻と共に幾度となく歩いた散歩道には大きな紫木蓮があり、毎年春の訪れを告げてきました。紫色の花々が咲き乱れる春のような景色を、サロンに集う方々、大切な人を失った人々、そして若くしてこの世を去った妻や妹に贈りたいと思います。

Title : The Season of Purple
– I keep creating not to forget –
I have been working on my installation since my sister passed away due to brain tumor not to forget all the precious memories with close people in life, using salt which symbolizes purification. However, my wife passed away 2 years ago, leaving our 4 year old daughter behind, I am again facing all the memories with and of my family.
The salon is in an area where my wife and I used to live, and it is a place where cancer patients and their families gather. On a path where we used to take walks countless times, there stands a tall purple magnolia tree, telling us it’s spring time each year. It is my hope that my installation may offer a scene like blossoming spring with beautiful purple flowers to people who gather at the salon, who had lost their loved ones, and to my wife and sister who left this world so soon at a young age.
